Thank You To Our Very Generous 2021 Sponsors
Bridgetown High School would like to thank the following businesses and individuals most sincerely, for the support they provide our school, by contributing to the 2021 End of Year Presentation Ceremony.
Each donation was incredibly generous and was put to excellent use in funding our student awards. Being able to provide our students with such generous gifts is absolutely wonderful and we appreciate the support provided. Without these businesses and individuals, we could not possibly reward our deserving students with such substantial prizes.
Thank you.

Hello Everyone,
The end of another school year is here again, and we have finished well with a lovely outing for Year 10’s on Monday evening and a new look end of year assembly and leavers ceremony. Both events were most enjoyable. It was particularly wonderful to see so many students receiving awards this year. We have included several new categories of awards that we hoped would see the awards spread over more students, and also recognise those students who may not be the “top” or “best” student in a subject area, but who give of their best all the time. Thank you to the parents who attended, and to the very generous donors who continue to support the school by sponsoring awards. A huge thank you to Mrs Hardey, Mrs Eaton, Mrs Butler, Mrs Jones, Mr Pantou and Mrs Holdsworth for their efforts in making this event a success.
This is also the time of year when we farewell staff who are leaving us. Ms Walker has been with us for the semester and has made a great contribution to our school. She has been a great acting admin team member, done a fantastic job organising work placement for year 10’s and had responsibility for Extra English classes. We send her best wishes for her role next year at Eaton Community College.
Ms Crozier is also leaving us this year. She has had a wonderful career having been a teacher with the Education Department for 4 days short of 20 years. The majority of these years have been here, at BHS and I am sure there are many many adults out both in our community and further afield who can attribute their love of literature and knowledge of the English language, to Ms Crozier. We wish Jane well in her retirement and hope to see her often on a casual basis. Jane was presented with a letter of acknowledgement from the Director General of Education, Lisa Rodgers, a Solid Silver Service Medallion and certificate.
Although we are seeing Paul Edmeades on a weekly basis as an IT consultant, Paul has officially resigned from the Department of Education. Paul began his career in 1978 at Kelmscott SHS, and then completed service at Merredin; and Karratha, before coming to Bridgetown in 1985. In total, he has worked for 43 years as a teacher which is an amazing effort. I know he has taught several generations of the same family and is warmly and highly regarded not only by the Bridgetown Community, but also by many within our Department. We hope that Paul continues to bring his fantastic IT skills to our school for many years to come. Paul also received a letter of commendation from the Director General, a Silver Service Medallion and certificate.
Thank you everyone, and all the best for a safe and happy Festive season.
Mrs Thorsby
From the French Teachers, Ms Cullen & Madame Muller
On Wednesday 1st December, the Year 9 French students made crepes with their French teacher, Madame Muller via Webex and supervisors Ms Cullen and Mrs Hardy in the Home Ec. room.
Madame Muller had suggested this lesson as a reward for the Year 9's effort and positive attitude throughout the year. They have been learning French vocabulary for food and ordering at restaurants, this term.
We had a choice of toppings - chocolate, cream, jam, lemon and sugar, honey or maple syrup.... and the crepes were delicious!
Term 4 Home Econmics saw students in Years 8, 9 & 10 cooking Sticky Date Muffins with Caramel Sauce and Homemade Custard, Chocolate Chip Biscuits, Custard Tarts, Sang Choy Bao, Focaccia Bread, Cinnamon Scrolls, Homemade Icypoles, Chocolate Brownie, Mini-Cob Loaf Dip, Chocolate Spiders, Chocolate Crackles, Pizza Pinwheels, Chocolate Mousse and Swiss Roll Cake.
A massive congratulations to Fire, who were the Champion House for 2021. It was very exciting and a well deserved win.
Congratulations also to everyone who particpated in the carnival, either as an athlete, a helper or just by cheering on their mates. The atmosphere was awesome and everyone had a fab time.

On Tuesday the 30th November at 6am, Ms Old and Ms Tizard escorted 23 students to the Kim Beasley Lecture Theatre at Murdoch University.
These students were offered extension activities and workshops in Mathematics and Science as well as the opportunity to explore possible Tertiary Pathways
As is customary for Bridgetown High School Cadets, the unit wrapped their year up with a 4 day camp in Busselton.
Our Inaugural Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Reward Day happened during the last week of term 4, on Tuesday, 14th December.
Students and staff enjoyed fun games with prizes being awarded for the most successful Form teams. Form teams received extra points for showing - Kindness, Resilience, Responsibility or Respect.
All teachers commented on how proud they were of their Form with each team working really well together at all challenges; helping each other and having fun!
Congratulations to the winning team - Form 7
Thanks from the PBS Team
On Friday 10th December, BHS Year 9/10 Drama students put on a performance for the Year 1/2 students from Bridgetown Primary School.
Our Drama students performed their adaptation of the picture book, Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge, by Mem Fox.
The primary students were very receptive. They asked questions of the actors, and they gave reasons for why they really liked the play!
We are happy that they enjoyed it, as we planned it for them. Thanks for coming to our show BPS kids! Well done to all cast and crew for a wonderful performance.
