As we head into a very busy time of the year, I would like to thank parents for the support that they unfailingly show to our school. This was evident last Friday at our Athletics’ Carnival. It was great to see a number of parents there watching the events and showing support. Thank you to Libby Burgess and the P&C for providing lunches and to parents who brought a lunch and supported our P&C. As our Carnival took on a new format this year, we welcome any feedback that parents have. The new format aimed to increase student participation in events and I think this is a worthy aim of any whole school sporting event. I appreciate the time and effort Ms Reidy-Crofts and Ms Phillips put into organising the Carnival and the other staff who give of their time to set up and pack away. Stay tuned for information regarding our upcoming Swimming Carnival, which was rescheduled to Term 4 – Friday 25th November 2022 – as we were unable to hold it in Term 1 due to COVID restrictions.
Again this year, the P&C are catering for the Blues Breakfast for campers on our school oval. The number of breakfasts that we are guaranteed payment for is 150 on both Saturday 12th November and Sunday 13th November. With 300 breakfasts to provide, our hardworking band of P&C volunteers will be “under the pump”. If you could spare any time to come and assist on either morning, please message the school. Any donations of eggs or fruit for fruit salad would be much appreciated but if you are able to do this, please let the school know so we can adjust what needs to be brought, thus keeping P&C profits as great as possible.
We are very pleased to have been asked to be part of a research project that the Telethon Kids Institute is running in Bridgetown. The “Amped Out: An Energy Drink Study” will investigate the experiences, views and opinions that people in Bridgetown have about energy drinks. As part of this study, all students will be invited to take part in a survey about energy drinks. Parents and children will also have the opportunity to participate in some focus group discussions about energy drinks.
To maximise the quality of the research, it is important that as many students and parents/carers participate as possible. It doesn’t matter whether you do or don’t drink energy drinks. The study is funded by the National Heart Foundation and is being led by Chief Investigator Dr Gina Trapp and Project Coordinator Justine Howard.
More information will be given to parents and students later this term.
There is a lot on our calendar for the rest of the term. Please make sure that your contact details are correct on our system so we can keep you updated on all that is happening.
Until next time,
Kind regards
Mrs C. A Thorsby
Principal
