Newsletter Item Week 2 Term 1 2023
Welcome to the 2023 school year. I would like to extend a particularly warm welcome to students and families who are new to our school community. We look forward to working with you to support your student to “Seek the Best” and achieve to their potential socially, emotionally and academically this year.
I would also like to welcome our new staff this year. Mr Josh Power comes to us as a Health and Physically Education teacher. Josh brings a wealth of experience in a range of PE skills and different contexts, his last being Margaret River Senior High School. Mr Neil Alexander is a trained, experienced and highly regarded Design and Technology teacher who will be working in the Woodwork area this year. Ms Marie Macfarlane is an experienced teacher of Home Economics who will be teaching in this area for Term 1. Mrs Robin Reid comes to us from Manjimup and is a skilled visual arts practitioner and will be working in this area for Semester 1. I have been very impressed with the start that these staff have made and we look forward to having them on board. Given there has been a lot of information in the media about the teacher shortage, we are very fortunate to have been able to recruit such quality staff to our school.
Open communication is very important with the school. We do our best to get it right with our communication to parents by communications about student attendance, concerns, behaviour, excursions and incursions, school events, student progress and the list goes on. If you feel you are not getting a range of timely communication, please let us know and we will do our best to rectify the issue. To make our job easier it is important that you update any change of contact details with the Front Office staff and always provide an emergency contact person who we can contact if you are not available. Similarly, please let us know if you have missed information, need clarification, have a concern, or want to share some information about your student, in confidence with the school. Please ask if you would like a copy of your student’s timetable emailed home or if you would like some assistance with navigating Connect as these are important resources for you to be able to access and understand.
I look forward to seeing you at the Meet and Greet on 15th February – please see more details enclosed.
Kind regards
Mrs C. A Thorsby
Principal.
Also we will be sending home reminders of unpaid billing items next week with your child, so please keep an eye out. We have had some technical issues with our website, but are hopeful that the 2023 Personal Items list and 2023 Fees & Charges Schedule will be available on our website next week!
