Hello Everyone,
This term is flying by and the end of the year is coming up way too fast. However, there are still two and a half weeks of school left and it is very important that students continue to come to school every day with the goal of engaging in their classes in a positive way. At this time of the year it is hot and teachers and students are getting tired. It is important that students continue to put their best foot forward right until the end of the year and be respectful, responsible, kind and resilient. Your support in encouraging your student to do this would be appreciated.
This week I had the pleasure of attending the Providing First Aid course delivered by Erica Duffett at the local St Johns subcentre, with a group of Year 10 students. Nearly all of our Year 10’s have completed the course recently, along with Ms Cullen, Mrs Henderson-Mott and in a final group yet to come, Mrs Leanne Holdsworth. The mature way my group conducted themselves was fantastic and I am happy to say that all students passed the course. This means that Bridgetown will potentially have around 40 more first responders in the community, something that will only benefit anyone in their time of need. A big thank you to Mrs Loton for organising the events and Erica for the wonderful way she presented the training that kept our students so engaged.
I hope that many in our community were able to see the fantastic performance by our Music students at the Blues Festival. Students will also be performing at the Bridgetown Show. It is really important that our students take part in these events to gain experience in performing in front of the wider audience and to make the community aware of the skills and interests gained at our school. Thank you to Mrs Karafilis for organising these performances. Also at the Show, please look out for the work of our photography students. Thank you to Mr Hall for taking the time to assist students with entering their work and showcasing our talented photography students.
Thank you to Libby Daniels and the rest of our hardworking P & C parents for their efforts at the Blues Festival breakfast. Over $2000 was raised for our school which is an outstanding result. Many thanks to those parents who assisted or donated items, time or funds.
I look forward to seeing you at our End of Year Presentation Ceremony at 12:00pm on Wednesday 13th December at the school.
Until next time
Mrs C. A Thorsby
