Welcome to Term 4. This is already shaping up as a very busy term.
Congratulations to Fire, who were the overall winners of the Athletics Carnival. The students, staff and parents that attended enjoyed a wonderful day at Balingup Oval and saw a number of long-standing records broken; a full list of champion students is provided for your enjoyment in this newsletter. Thank you to those parents who attended and helped on the day, and to PE staff Ms Reidy-Crofts and Mr Power for their organisation. A reminder to parents that attendance on days such as the Swimming Carnival and Athletics Carnival is compulsory. For those students that are not able to participate in events, there are always helpers needed and any student who is not competing, should be there to support their peers and cheer for their House. In 2025, attendance at the Swimming Carnival in Term 1, either as a competitor, helper or spectator will be a prerequisite condition for invitations to attend both Country Week, and the Interstate camp to Darwin.
I would like to share with you the achievement of one of our Year 7 students, Lauren Clements. Lauren is a talented singer and part of the Vocal Fusion Choir based in Bunbury. The commitment that Lauren and her family have shown to the choir, by attending weekly training in Bunbury, paid off when the choir was selected to represent Australia and sing at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa, which is currently underway. Lauren will be part of the group that sings for the leaders of not only Commonwealth nations, but King Charles as the Head of the Commonwealth. Congratulations Lauren!
I would also like to congratulate ex-student Levi Nichols, who has been awarded a prestigious Fogarty Scholarship to study at the University of WA in 2025. Levi was the Year 10 Dux at Bridgetown High School in 2022 and completed Year 11 and 12 at Manea Senior College. The Fogarty Scholarship provides a range of substantial financial support for Levi and we are very proud that he has been successful, through his own dedication and hard work, in being awarded one. Well done, Levi.
Parents will soon be receiving information on Fees and Charges for 2025, a list of Student Requirements and, for current Year 8 & 9 students, subject selection sheets for Electives. Please take time to read the information and let us know if you have any queries. Parents of current Year 8 and 9 students should take the time to discuss which Electives your student would like to study and the cost of these Electives, which are compulsory charges. If you have any queries regarding the Fees and Charges, please contact our Manager of Corporate Services, Mrs Camille Sinagra and for course selection information, Mrs Hardey on 9761 0100.
Until next time,
Kind regards
Mrs C. A Thorsby

2024 P&C Containers for Change - House Faction Competition
Announcing the winner of our 2024 Containers for Change Race.
ICE made a good showing after being late off the mark, and FIRE was in it till the end, but SUN blew it away with a brimming IBC at the very last minute!
Well done to all three houses, and thank you all for your support. Every one of those collected containers has been recycled into items for our students and our school.
Keep depositing - it's a head start for next year's race!
