Learning about Aboriginal Culture and Heritage

The Year 10 classes went to Kodja Place in Kojonup to learn about the history of country life in Australia.  They tell the stories of three women throughout the rose maze, Yoondi an Aboriginal women, Elizabeth an English women and Maria an Italian women.  It was fascinating to hear the similarities in their concerns but the difference in their experiences. There is extensive reference to traditional Noongar life and it has some very sweet animal footprints set into the pathway through the building.  Jack was our tour guide.  He is an 80 + year old Aboriginal man who is an awesome character, excellent story teller and great damper cook.  Much better than our attempt at damper that’s for sure.  We had a great day looking into our local past.

A big THANKYOU to the PALS and Healing Hands foundation for your support in making this trip happen.
