POLICE VISIT a huge success

Last Monday staff from Bridgetown Police Station spoke with students in years 8 and 9. The success of these talks was immense. Students in years 7 and 10 have since requested similar talks for their year groups as awareness of the content spread through the school community and was valued by staff and students alike.

Country Week

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish the Country Week teams, captains and coordinator, all the best for Country Week. This type of event takes a great deal of planning in the lead up to departure, both in terms of organisation and training. The relationships and experiences that are developed through the teamwork and time away, creates memories for a lifetime. Seek the best!

NAPLAN

I have received individual student reports for this year’s NAPLAN. These will be sent home to parents once they have been verified against the school data which is due for release in two stages, the first this week and the rest next Friday. Results should then be in your mailboxes early next term.

Work Experience

Bridgetown is unique in that it provides work experience to students in years 9 and 10. This is a great opportunity for our students as they begin to make decisions in the next few years about career choices. Having a practical experience upon which to reflect is very powerful. Knowing what you want to do is fantastic but not something we all know innately, so ruling out things you don’t want to do, is also valuable. Work experience provides a great opportunity to try things out and look at what went well, and why. Thanks to all local businesses and employers that have taken time to support our students through providing this opportunity.

Attendance

Many thanks to the families who have returned their attendance records. Please be reminded that normal school classes are running for years 7 and 8 and students are expected to attend all of week 10.
