From the Home Ec Room
Year 7's were practicing oven safety by making scones. The addition of jam and cream was a well accepted optional extra.
Year 8's started the topic of delicious desserts by making old-fashioned cornflake biscuits and chocolate chip biscuits.
Year 9/10's began with a focus on how chocolate is made with an emphasis on the corrupt system where the farmers/cocoa growers get paid very little compared to the chocolate company profits. To sweeten the lesson we tasted different types of chocolate and completed a sensory analysis. Students learnt that chocolate does not go "off". It just develops a stale taste.
