FROM THE HOME ECONOMICS ROOM
Year 7
Students have been becoming familiar with using the sewing machines and they are now making their tote bags. We will then move on to making their aprons. If any students would like to choose their own material from home to make an apron, approximately 1 square metre of a cotton type material would be perfect. Please contact me if you would like more information.
Year 8
Students in the first cooking rotation group finished their 14 weeks with making spaghetti bolognese and then healthy hamburgers. I was very proud of their progress and skills. The second cooking rotation group began with chocolate crackles so that I can assess how much they remember from last year with regards to Home Ec cooking routines.
Year 9
This term has started with fried rice, chocolate chip cookies, fettuccine carbonara, cookie dough pots with ice-cream and traditional Anzac biscuits. This class is full of energetic and enthusiastic cooking students with very hygienic processes.
Year 10
The two year 10 classes are testing a variety of recipes that I hope to make regular features for future classes in Home Ec. Bircher muesli breakfast jars, paleo granola, warm tomato and onion dip, spinach and ricotta rolls, special fried rice and chocolate berry muffins. The challenge is to make rewarding recipes in 65 minute lessons.
All recipes are available on Connect for each year group or please email and I will send copies to you. I am also always keen to see photos of what students are cooking in their home kitchens.
