FROM THE PRINCIPAL Carol Thorsby

Carol_Thorsby.jpgWelcome back to Term 3. I suspect that I am not alone in wondering where the year is going!

Thank you to those who responded to our Country Week survey at the beginning of the term. I am happy to say that the majority of those who responded were supportive of the school sending teams up for this event, and preparations are now well underway. My thanks to Mr Pantou for pulling out all the stops to get this event up and running.  A big thank you to Mrs Humby, Mr Pantou, Mrs Jo Hardey and Mrs Bec Hardey who have volunteered to spend a week away with the students in Perth, and are giving up their lunchtimes for training.

I would also like to thank our P & C for kindly agreeing to provide some funds for the air-conditioning of the student undercover area. Unfortunately, we were unsuccessful in securing funds from Central Office for the upgrade, but fortunately we have sufficient school funds will be used to match this funding. This will be a wonderful upgrade to our school and will help keep our students warm in the winter and cool in the summer.  I am still pursuing funding from central office to upgrade other areas of the school.

School lunches seem to be a hit with our students. Jacquie and her staff from Clovers Store are doing a fabulous job providing the lunches on Thursday’s each week and I know our students and staff are enjoying the tasty treats each week. Thank you to those parents who have supported this initiative. I am hopeful that the support continues to grow so that this service is financially viable for Clovers, and will continue long into the future.

Clair Johns, the Participation Coordinator for the South West Region is now based at our school Wednesday to Friday. This is a great pick up for our school and the community as Clair is here to assist parents/carers with students who may be frequently absent or disengaged from school. Please feel free to give Clair a call if you would like assistance, as she has a wealth of knowledge in this area. Clair can be contacted via the school’s reception area on 9761 0100.

The School Council will meet on Monday 24th August 2020 at 1:00pm in the Library.  If you would like to join the group and have a real say in shaping the direction of your school, please come along and join the meeting.

Until next time,

Warm regards,

Mrs C. A Thorsby
