YEARS 7 & 8, Jo Loton
WOW! It’s hard to believe it’s the end of Week 3 already! I would like to commend the majority of Year 7 and 8 students for maintaining their rigour with regards to their learning. It is such a pleasure to see so many students achieving well, especially when the end of year reporting period begins in just a few short weeks.
My advice to all lower school students is to keep setting realistic and achievable goals for yourself, make the most of your class time, and keep asking your teachers for advice and feedback. What you are learning about now will become the foundations for future knowledge and understanding.
Learn it once and learn it well.
Over the next few weeks, I encourage all Year 7 and 8 students to complete their classwork and homework to the best of their ability. This will ensure their Semester Two report reflects their true achievement.
Traditionally, Term 4 is a very busy term – both at school and within the wider community. In the next few weeks, Year 7 and 8 students can look forward to the annual Athletics Carnival, a Cadet Camp to Walpole, music and drama performances, the final whole school assembly and supporting the Year 6 students during their two days of Transition in early December.
Year 6 to Year 7 Transition – Week 9, 2020
We are looking forward to welcoming our 2021 Year 7 cohort to our school for two days of classes and activities on Wednesday 9th and Thursday 10th December, 2020. I have recently completed drafting a busy and rewarding transition timetable that will provide the Year 6 students with a realistic understanding of what life is like at Bridgetown High School.
The timetable will include a music performance on the Thursday afternoon by our current music students as well as a complimentary sausage sizzle, a Year 9 & 10 drama performance, cooking, visual art, digital technology and of course, meeting teachers from all of the MESH subjects. The students will also have the opportunity to meet the Student Services Team.
Important information regarding both the Year 6 to 7 Transition and the 2021 Year 7 Orientation Days will be directly posted home to parents in the coming weeks.
Only those students who have completed and submitted their 2021 BHS enrolment will be invited to attend both of these days.
Enjoy the coming weeks, everyone!
