Welcome back to Term 4 everyone,

It has been a very positive start to the term with a number of staff commenting on the focussed and calm way students have commenced. Whilst it is the final term of the year, it is an important and busy one so when students present to classes, ready and willing to learn, it sets a wonderful tone.

This is a special term for our Year 10 students as they end their time with us at BHS and move on to life’s next chapter, prepared for whatever this may bring. Helping them prepare is something we strive to do so I would like to acknowledge and thank the team of emergency services personnel, local service providers, parents and community members who put together the recent “Mystery Tour of Life”.  Anything we can do as a community to decrease the road toll by educating young soon-to-be drivers is to be embraced and I know that our students benefited from, and reflected on, the messages and information they received on the day. Thank you to all involved.

Later this term, our Year 10’s will complete their Providing First Aid Certificate. Many thanks to the Bridgetown St John Ambulance sub centre for providing this opportunity and the work of Jo Loton and Erica Duffett in organising and delivering this course, which will stand these students in good stead in the future.

I know the students will be looking forward to the end of the year but they should also bear in mind that Year 10 exams are to be held in Week 6 this term and these not only provide marks towards the end of year grade for students, but also provide them with an opportunity to practise the skills needed in examinations in upper school.

We have a number of events and celebrations planned for the Year 10’s in the final week of school, culminating in our Presentation Ceremony afternoon on Wednesday 13^th December. More information on this will be provided closer to the day.

I would like to thank the BHS P & C who provided a sausage sizzle to voters at the recent Voice referendum. As voting was held at the school, it was an ideal opportunity to fundraise for our school and as always, we are very grateful for the efforts of all of those involved. The next fundraiser is the breakfast at the school for campers on the weekend of the Bridgetown Blues Festival. I am sure that the committee would welcome helpers on the day or donations of eggs, milk, bread etc. Stay tuned for more information about how you can help and where donations can be dropped off.

Our students will be representing the school at the Remembrance Day service on 11^th November at the Cenotaph at Memorial Park. We are proud of the cadets and our student leaders who will be present at this occasion. We also have students performing at the Blues Festival under the guidance of Mrs Karafilis. I know they will do us proud.
